Dr. Michael W. Orseck, M.D.
Dr. Orseck is a board-certified surgeon specializing in plastic and reconstructive surgery and general surgery in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Dr. Orseck began his career in medicine when he earned his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine in New York, in February of 1998. Soon after graduation, he entered the first of two residencies. The first in General Surgery at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System Spartanburg, South Carolina which he completed in 2003. Following his passion, he completed a second residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Medical College of Georgia Augusta, Georgia in June of 2005. Seeking to further hone his surgical skills, Dr. Orseck completed a fellowship in aesthetic surgery at the Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospital at New York University in June of 2006. Later that same year, he returned to Spartanburg, South Carolina to join Spartanburg Regional as a physician at Magnolia Plastic Surgery.
Dr. Orseck maintains an active involvement in research and education and has earned numerous teaching awards as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at the Plastic Medical University of South Carolina. In addition to surgical certifications, he holds dual teaching certifications: Instructor in Advanced Trauma Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support. His current research interests include “The effects of obesity on mastectomy flap thickness” and “Abdominal wall reconstruction after gastric bypass”.
In addition to his private practice, Dr. Orseck is a member of the MD Anderson Physician Network in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He is also Section Chief of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System. Dr. Orseck has also been appointed to several executive and advisory committees: Medical Executive Committee, OR Advisory Committee, Committee on Trauma, and Surgical Case Review Committee.
In addition to his professional achievements, Dr. Orseck is well-known for his enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and attentive manner with patients and his deep dedication to his patients’ care. He gains a great deal of personal satisfaction from restoring both form and function to his patients through restorative surgery.
